Introduction to Sport Climbing 201
Introduction to Sport Climbing 201
OVERVIEW
The Introduction to Sport Climbing Camp is a comprehensive course, designed to teach students the skills to become independent Sport Climbers in a single pitch environment. During this 2-day camp students will learn about sport climbing specific equipment, sport climbing anchors, lead belaying techniques with an assisted braking device, the lead climbing sequence, and gear removal at the end of a climbing session. These lessons will all be placed in the context of etiquette, ethics, and situational awareness needed to climb in the natural environment around others.
Participants should have previous climbing and belaying experience (Indoor or outdoor), and be familiar with basic climbing knots. To enjoy all aspects of this camp, participants should also be comfortable top-rope climbing at a 5.8 level or above. This in-person, two day clinic will take place in picturesque Frenchman Coulee (Vantage) in Central Washington.
